The professional association "MamBa" born at Rome on April 2014 from a long working collaboration between Almudena Mampaso and Giammattia Bassanello, both graduated in architecture by the Polytechnic University of Madrid (ETSAM) and the Univeristy La Sapienza of Rome respectively.
The professional experience together starts in Arquitectura Urbanismo y Cooperaciàon S.L (AUC), in 2006, where deepening and dedication would progressively increase in the urban design field and in the urban regeneration as a fundamental right of all citizens. A responsible trajectory starts in all urban projects phases and scales meanly dealing with heritage places where the goals become true and confirm a life quality change. So we star to deeply believe in our profession. Projects are mainly in Spain in places like San Cristobal de La Laguna, a World Heritage City, or Castro Caldelas declared Historical Artistic Site.
After six years of professional activity at the main office at Madrid, take place collaborations with AUC to work in local projects at the Dominican Republic and El Salvador, where the methodology keeps the same based on the identity recognition of every pace and with the same goals of transformation in order to response in front of a inalienable rights, the public space quality and urban services. Both founding partners move to Rome and extend the collaborations to other offices and professionals broaden the geographical experience with projects in Iraq, in the city of Duhok, and in Italy in the cities of Mantua and Sobbioneta (both Human Heritage), working in the fields of the urban planning and urban design dealing with the context of places with cultural and historical meaning.
Simultaneously, both partners have always kept it presence in the international competitions activity, getting several awards in different fields like design, building or urban design, pointing out the special mention for the recovering of a gambling building at the Hitorical Centre of Lima in 2010, the recognition for the Venice Biennial pavilion of Hispalyt firm in 2008 and recently the special mention at Europan12 competition for the requalification of the Cathedral square surroundings of Don Benito, in Badajoz. The last award in 2014 has been the first price for the requalification of La Coruña walls surrounding and the project is currently under development.
